The Mt. Greylock hike is less than a week away! Here’s a few things for participants to keep in mind…
- Bring your pledge sheet with you to the event, even if you haven’t collected all your donations yet.
- Hike with a friend or in a group! It’s a better experience and we don’t recommend hiking alone.
- Bring enough water and something to snack on during the hike.
- Make sure to wear appropriate attire. Check out the weather for North Adams the night before so that you’re prepared. We recommend hiking boots or sneakers.
- Make sure someone in your hiking group has a first aid kit.
- Get directions to the trailhead of the trail you plan on hiking now. Don’t wait until the last minute! 50 Peaks will have info. tables at the Haley Farm/Hopper Trail Trailhead and at the Cheshire Harbor Trailhead. (We’ll also have a table at the summit) (For a list of trails, trailhead locations, and trail difficulty levels, please visit www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/mtGreylock/ )
- Any other questions, comments, or suggestions, shoot me an email at fifty.peaks@yahoo.com.
Thanks all!

It is with great excitement that we write these words to announce our FIRST OFFICIAL CLIMB! It took a lot of hard work and dedication to get us to this point, and we’d like you to share in this experience with us.
On Saturday, August 20th, 2011, we will ascend Mount Greylock in North Adams, Massachusetts. Depending on the trail you choose, this should be an easy/moderate day hike, so you don’t need to be a professional to join in.
Registration will be from 8:30am to 10:00 am and there will be sponsor tables at the Hopper Trail Trailhead, The Cheshire Farm Trail Trailhead and at the summit. Pledge sheets and donations should be turned in at any one of these tables.
Money raised for this climb will go to Massachusetts Citizens for Children. Prizes will be awarded for those who raise the most money, so fill up those pledge sheets!
Visit our Mt. Greylock page to download a pledge sheet and get additional info.
We hope you can make it! Thank you so much for your time and continued support.

Hey Everyone!
It’s been a while since our last update and we’ve been busy.
Right now we’re working hard planning our first official 50 Peaks Climb. It will be held at Mt. Greylock in North Adams, Massachusetts in August of this year.
This year we will be climbing for the Massachusetts Citizens for Children and we’re very excited to have found them. Since 1959, they’ve been fighting to keep kids in Massachusetts safe from abuse, neglect and violence. After talking with the executive director and hearing her heart for the children of this state, we’re happy to bring as much support as we can in their direction. For more information, feel free to browse their website at www.masskids.org
We are currently in the process of forming a base team for this years climb. If you’re interested in joining, send us an email at fifty.peaks@yahoo.com

Hey Everyone!
I hope everyone had a very good holiday season. The members of 50 peaks have been very busy with our families and things through the holidays. We have also been working very hard to secure all the necessary things for the upcoming basketball tournament. It is very unfortunate that we have hit a road block in securing a good and affordable location to host the tournament. 50 Peaks as a team has made the decision to postpone the tournament at this time until the spring when the weather will be warmer and the tournament will be held outside. The future location and date is being discussed and will be decided on in the next few weeks! The prize for the winning team will also change due to the Celtics tickets being for an earlier date. The Celtics tickets that we have will be raffled off. The raffle tickets will be $10 per raffle ticket or you can buy 3 raffle tickets for $25. The details on the seats will be posted shortly. If you are interested in a raffle ticket please contact any member of the 50 Peaks team through the contacts page. Also check us out on face book via the link to the right and feel free to message us! Stay tuned for all the upcoming information.

50 Peaks is an organization dedicated to raising awareness and assistance to the rapidly growing issues involving children and young people specific to each state. We believe that children and young people NEED to know that they are loved and our mission is to rally each state for this urgent cause. By climbing to the highest point in each state of the United States we will raise awareness and support for organizations already hard at work in the lives of neglected, abused, and/or at risk children and young people.
